What to Do

Mike and Lauren chose to get married in Fredericksburg because the city has a special meaning to both of them. Lauren's grandmother and many others on her dad's side of the family live there and Lauren has fond memories of visiting as a child. Mike went to school in Mary Washington, located in downtown Fredericksburg.

The city is rich in history and we encourage you to take advantage of all it has to offer. While the hotels are located in Central Park, home to DSW and every other chain store imaginable, we suggest venturing to downtown Fredericksburg. Take a trolley tour, visit Kenmore Plantation and Gardens, if you're lucky Lauren's great aunt Pat (or Dice as we call her) will be working and take you on a personal tour, or visit one or all of the four battlefields in the Fredericksburg area that comprise the world's largest military monument, the 9,000-acre Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park. For a complete list of fun things to do while you are in town, click here.

Not in the mood for an official tour? No problem. Simply walk around downtown Fredericksburg and browse the cute shops, antique stores, and quaint restaurants. For the best meal in the city, or state for that matter, you'd have to go to Lauren's grandmother's house or her great aunt Cile's. However, rumor has it that both of those kitchens will be closed during the wedding weekend, so we suggest you try one of the many tasty restaurants around town. Click here for a list.
